October 30th- Virtually Home. A lesson in collaborative technology in action whilst on the road

In this case study, Stephen is in Sydney for a meeting or two. Jim asks what the room is like when "chatting". Stephen's mobile phone has a camera attachment which makes it possible to take the snap above (from the Marriott Hyde Park) and to uplaod it to the computer via a wireless (Bluetooth) connection. Then it is copied in a couple of seconds seconds to Jim's computer at home in Brisbane. How's it copied? Using the conferencing tool below.
Using a iSight camera, Stephen chats to Jim in real time and has the perfect video image as seen below. Again the snap was taken with his phone. By just dragging files (eg the photo from the hotel window) onto the video of Jim, they are copied onto his computer. And all for the cost of an internet connection. Stephen has "virtually gone home" from hotels in San Fransisco or Hobart. Jim opened an audio only connection on one of the other home computers - the one in the study- and let Stephen listen in on his piano practice whilst he worked in his hotel room in Sydney (he needs some work on that chord in Satie's "Gymnopedie No. 1") . Easy! Virtually home....
