It was a busy year for Stephen in '82. Returning from Europe in
January, tagging alone with bride Elizabeth for a med student
term at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in October followed by a
month or so in Boston in Nov-Decmeber.
To the right, Stephen shared this fine suite with Elizabeth in
the RMH residents' quarters(he was an unknown guest).
Also in Melbourne were friends Steve Rosner, a dermatologist from
the U.S. out on study leave and Monica Kluckhorn, a med student
from Germany. Both visited later on in Brisbane. Here we played
tourists on Phillip Island. |

In November Liz had a term to do in opthalmology (from memory)
at the Mass General Hospital in Boston. Stephen went and had plenty
of time to himself to explore. He still knew his way around in
2001 so we guess the time wasn't wasted.
Left, Liz explores Beakon Hill.
Below, Stephen contemplates "stuff" at their apartment in Newton
Centre. |

The apartment was part of a Theological College. Why did we stay
there? Well, Lizs' mothers' cousin, George Peck (now deceased)
was the dean. We joined them for Christmas.
Georges' daughter Joy was (maybe still is?) married to Aalt, a
Dutch sociologist come ship skipper. They joined us on a few outings. |

In January '83 Stephen and one-day-to-be Athomen Nick & Jim's
mother Elizabeth headed to New York.
Stephen caught up with his family friends and stayed with ex-neighbour
Judy Bristol. Stephen lived in NYC for some years as a little
guy (see AthoAlbum index). He shares a meal with Cara to the left. |
