A treat for Jim (and Stephen) - Christchurch, NZ. Aug-Sept 2003

Well, it wasn't only for Jim, but it was Stephen's birthday present to him (Jim was kind enough to send the good champers back from Business to Stephen in Cattle Class). The lads headed off to Chistchurch on Saturday 30th August. Having only moved to Christchurch for a Head of Department gig at Otago Uni only weeks before, Athomen pals Robyn and Zol received their first guests. We all headed to Mt Hutt on Sunday. Although only his second ski trip (first ski in 1999), Jim progressed to Intermediate Level 3B pretty easily whilst Stephen (who skied with Nick in 2002) progressed from Novice to "Novice-with-sore-butt". On Monday the lads wondered the streets of Christchurch. On Monday night Jim took Robyn to the movies whilst Stephen went on a date with new friend Pauline.

We liked Christchurch and it reminded both of us of England - the flat Cantebury plains could have been Cambridgeshire, the city with it's River Avon any number of English towns.

The lads returned on Tuesday Sept 2nd. Click on below to enlarge shots. Some strange comments by Jim.
