Some friends join Jim at Springbrook 18th August

Below on the 17th August Mark and Olga have a farewell dinner. Back to Boston....

Weekend 25th August

We headed to Stephen's Office on Saturday night to see "River Festival" fireworks. Here an Air Force fighter dumps fuel as part of the show.
On Sunday morning Paul Adams joined Jim and Stephen aboard friend Donalds' boat. The day started out sunny and clear
Old salty sea-dog Jim took the helm...
Paul and Jamie were only here for the weekend after a conference up north in Cairns. Jamie joined Paul and stayed at AthoMan HQ.

Paul had done work with Jim & Nicks' Grandpa back in 1987 and had lived in Brisbane for a while. He is now based at London University Hospital in Canada.

From deckhand to helmsman or chef, Jim took it all on.

He also took the dingy when we went ashore on Peel Island. Still the weather is fine, and the living is easy...

Donald's boat is 47 feet and beautifully fitted out- he built it all himself!

Jamie Adams played captain too and showed some salty skills.

The shot to the left wasn't possed! At around 5 pm the skies darkened, the winds got close to 30 knots and rain and hail made seeing anything a challenge. Not that the photographer, the good Dr Adams, would have known! The crew headed for the luxury of the cabin whilst Captain Donald and his faithful servant battled crashing waves and got us all home in time for dinner.

Seems Moreton Bay can change from calm to "A Perfect Storm" condition in minutes...
