1999

We left for Indonesia on Boxing day 1998 for a month...

Nick, an advanced diver, tries out a dive at Nusa Penida off Sanur where we camped in a rented house for a week. A tough current which took a Japanese diver that week!
Jim battles the elements and joins him.
Jim and Stephen praying at Balis' only Buddhist monestary in the north in Banjar. We stayed at Lovina Beach. Nick dived at Menjangan Island in the north west
Lake Bratan in the central mountains. We spent a few days (that's us in the corner after rowing across the lake) here exploring. On the right we attempted to climb Mt Catur.
We got about ourselves in a car- it took Stephen a few days to drive as insanely as the locals...
Yeh Palu is near the Elephant cave outside of Ubud. There are few tourists and it is quiet. Jims' favourite god, Genesha, was there.
Near Ubud Jim stopped for a look. We liked Ubud.
The Hindu mother temple, Besakhi, in Balis' centre
Whilst Nick dove at Tulumben on Balis' east, Jim and Stephen explored a WWWII wreck- USS Liberty. It had been torpedoed by the Japanese. We stayed here for a few days.
