Stephen's 2018 Birthday

What a treat! Paulie planned a picnic. Friend Yolande planned an art and architecture roadtrip, and off we went! Tracking the history and art of one of her faourite sculptors, we spent a busy, informative and fun day cruising through the backroads of the Tarn and Tarn et Garonne departments.

31st - Video... 31st - Stephen's birthday so James the Oxford based Aussie "Ocker" Koala sends his wishes Paulie had a picnic planned and cooked accordingly... Yolande has a surprise tour planned. It started at nearby Caylus and she had a great itinerary drawn up. Hidden inside a work by sculptor Ossipe Zadkine. Interesting story you can look up - Russian. In the 20s he hung out with Chagall, Modigliani, and the other boys in the band.
Time to picnic. Bad Weather? What weather ? As a sculptor herself, Yolande raised a glass to Zadkine. : Stephen Atherton, Yolande Cartigny In Cahors Paulie bumps into a fellow All Black The cathedral in Cahors is an archiectural mixture - two scoops of Byzantine dome, a dash of Romanesque, and an optional pinch of Gothic.
. Then on to the Musée Zadkine in Les Arques In the church next door is other Jesus. Like the Caylus piece, it is made from one tree. A scultpture of the Christian world's favourite Jew done by a Russian Jew. .
He worked with other media . . A grand day out and a lovely birthday. On return home the  guys made a big coq au vin to share with Yolande and Michael. Next week it's Paulie's turn...
