Sydney and Parramatta

Site updated on 25 Feb 2013

On Feb 18th 2013 Stephen headed to Sydney Apple HQ for sales meetings. One activity - a movie exercise - took his fancy. Paulie flew in on Wednesday afternoon when Stephen had to head to Parramatta for the University of Western Sydney's 2 day iPad Summit which he helped organise. 9,000 students were to turn up the next Monday with iPads, so staff talked about technology education.

Paulie explored Parramatta and grew to appreciate it's history and multiculturalism. An interesting coincidence was that Paulie's nephew Toni and his wife Kirsten flew in Friday night to collect their new (old) dog "Jock". They all met up for drinks and sat in a Parramatta cafe watching folks go by, bogan cars cruise by loudly, and drug deals acted out until the wee hours after midnight.

Time to talk about the new at the University of Western Sydney

The 2 day Summit venue. Oldest multi-storey building in Oz!

From 1814 it was the Female Orphan school.

After being an orphanage, it was where the insane (made so by self abuse or lactation it seems) hung out

Paulie chills by the Parramatta River.

And inside the Town Hall…

It's dance time for a large Chinese population

and table tennis

Which somehow Paulie gets roped into!

And thrashed by an 80 year old

The first Government House

Meanwhile, Stephen presented to 60 UWS staff

As did pal Phil Long

The vibrant Church Street scene

Back at our apartment by the river. Seems ferries run back to Sydney (an hour)

UWS Parramatta Campus where old meets new

… and coexist side by side

The UWS summit is over… time to chill

One tired lad, but he reenergised and met Toni and Kirsten for late drinks
