A quick trip from the Westland (Aus) to the Mainland and Northland of Aotearoa

Site updated on 26 Oct 2013

Arriving in Auckland in the wee hours of Wed 23rd Oct, Stephen had a few rushed gigs to deliver. Done and dusted, he headed home on Saturday morning. It was the first collaboration with Auckland based colleague Meredith and a reunion with pal Joeseph who was also in NZ which is now part of his Systems Engineering turf. They had both been in NZ 9 years ago for a CAUDIT meeting.

Stephen did get time to drop in on the Ladies Turnbull's old house in Ponsonby which they sold in 2006 and to put his feet up for a night in lovely St Clair beach in Dunedin that he and Paulie had visited briefly a few years back in 2011.

Clock Tower Building (and a borrowed image from Wikimedia)

Joe Cox joins in on the roadtrip at Auckalnd Uni

Talk 1 is to one of the groups at the Medical Deans of ANZ conference

Joe captures the interior much better than Stephen

… Some time to check on previous home of the Ladies Turnbull in Ponsonby

Man reaches for the sky for god and (in the background) glory. (Photo c/ Joeseph Cox esq)

Joe catches Stephen "adjusting the light" and breaking Uni property. Ooops

Talk 2 prep- AUT University (damn my faulty autofocus)

Mr Stephen King attends the talk that photographer Joe and Meredith co-presented at.

Off to Dunedin. An empty flight. It was planned to miss landing in Wellington...

.. because of more the usual high winds. 100 passengers wanetd to get to Dunedin

Stephen looks out the window and discovers that the pilot wants to show off his skills and attempt a landing

Which caused palpitations for colleague Meredith. One bumpy landing!

A mix up in Dunedin has Stephen staying in a house in the hills nowhere near the uni

…but it's a nice house

Robbie Burnes looks over the Octogon. But Stephen stays further afield (OK. Not my shot- c/ Wikimedia)

St Clair in Dunedin. "Mmm…. shall I stay here instead?"

The heated sea pool

And after a busy week, and a busy week in the U.S. before that, a few wines (with mucho water) are in order.

… waking to another lovely South Island day

… but the green hills of the Otago region will not keep Stephen away from his gal, home, and family.

Off over Central Otago

en route to Auckland and home (still South Island)

Sorry Paulie- only a dash of the Alps spotted through cloud :-(
