Clan Dunlop adventures - Jan and Jim head to Africa

Site updated on 17 Nov 2013

Paulies sister Jan and husband Jim never stop surprising us with art school trips to New York and black run ski adventures to everywhere. This time they headed to Egypt and East Africa on September 24th . Their trusty iPad kept us in touch and their photos are just wonderful.

First stop was Egypt where Giza and Cairo were explored and then Luxor. Then Zanzibar - Jans descripton of the stone city near there sounded very powerful- it was one of the the centres of the slave trade in East Africa. Understandably Jan thought it disrespectful to take photos. They had a quick stop over in Kenya before meeting a Ugandan friend who actually lives close to them in Eumundi.

Finally they spent time giving back and taught and assisted at St Andrews School in Bwebajja,Uganga. Jan focussed on art and reading and Jim added some sport to that curriculum. Life there was a bit basic it seems but they rode the "bodaboda" to the shops for some essentials in their spares. The kids loved the attention as can be seen in their farewell. They arrived back in Oz on November 3rd.
