A bathroom transforms- July/Aug 2012

Site updated on 18 Aug 2012

Stephen and Paulie had always spoken about doing up the bathrooms, and decided to do the family bathroom first. Although a bit messy and intrusive, the team did a fine job over 4 weeks with only a few hiccups. A deviation from the original plan (which was pretty much a small variation on Paulie's initial sketches) where the door was to be moved closer to the middle of the room, didn't happen. But narrowing the vanity addressed the aesthetics, and all was well. Whether Paulie and Stephen's bathroom is renovated in the near future is questionable. But there is that extra window in the lounge we've always wanted....

The cramped and dark main bathroom

Very 1980s

Let's knock out a wall and bring in some light & space

A bigger window

Tilers in action

The foreman keeps an eye on progress.

The vanity looks too wide. Maybe because they forgot to move the door a wee bit.

So off it goes for some surgery

And the grinder does it's thing to narrow the marble

The work is infectious, so other chores get done

And some local fauna drops in to share a cup of tea

Fixture testing

A bit to the left or right?

Done. 4 weeks and a fist full of dollars pays off.

The goal of light and openness succeeds
