20th Dec - Arrivederci Venezia
Navigator Paulie sends us to a town on a penninsula on Lake Guarda called Sirmione
For the most it is touristy but the old town (restricted traffic) is nice. Off season anyway
And for a change, a swish room
Very Italian... the place is full of animals!
The sun sets over the Swiss Alps
21st Dec - a lovely day starts on the lake
The team borrow some bikes and head for Roman ruins
But with bikes come bike chains
At the ruins of the poet Calluto's pad (60 BCE)
Looking accross the lake to the alps
The olive groves where the villa stood and Olivia's name originated
We say goodbye to the hotel and head to Bergamo or Milano
We end up in Bergamo and our good karma continues- a funky affordable apartment falls in our lap care of son of cafe owner in square (her son Luca)
Dinner in tonight
Dec 22nd - the morning view from our window down to the new town
off the Piazza Vecchia in Bergamo
Getting cool
Just as we reached Milano, the tyre blows. And whilst distracted, Paulie's wallet disappears!
ye ancient mall in fashion capital
Back to Bergamo where pasta was cooked, telephone calls to credit cards made (the U.S. Mastercard guy was very upset we missed the Milano soccer game)
Our charming hostesses
