September 12-21, 2005. Thailand & Cambodia

Site updated on 22 Sep 2005

5 pages of our safari to Bangkok, Chaing Mai, Siem Reap and Phonm Penh. Think yourself lucky- these are but a quarter of the shots we took! Olivia, Jim, Pauli and Stephen had a short trip (given the restrictive nature of freebie frequent flyer point ticketing) but we sure fit a lot in. Nick, alas, was working so he missed out. Great food, great company, interesting sites and sounds, no formal itinerary and no check-in luggage. All in all, a great trip!

Day 1, Bangkok: To Jim Thompson's House

Next to the klong

Off on the public transport

The boat cometh

Olivia and Stephen head off

Walked to the Golden Mount

Into the Golden palace (et al)

Jim wanders off

He looks at the wall paintings thinking they would make cool desktop patterns

They do!

Taking to the Chao Phraya

Monks always have a seat

From roughing it with the masses to going upmarket

Peak hour near Gaysorn Plaza

Day 2: out for a stroll in Lumphini Park

Singing in the rain

The rain bought out the lizards.

Chiang Mai Hills (Botanic Resort)

We said empty! Here we are for dinner

Taking to the mountain roads

A break in our hour walk through the hills. We were going to sleep here, but found the swish resort more interesting

We'll see if we can rent this next time.
