John Atherton was an old school journo. For close to four years in the mid-sixties he worked in the U.S. as foreign correspondant for Australian Associated Press in New York. He had done a stint at the "Toledo Blade" (Ohio) in 1960 as well. A funny guy- put a few folks around him and he was the life of the party. But he drank too much and smoked too much-a combination which took him to an early grave at the age of 52. A so/so marriage (but you'll have to wait for the book for this story!). Above doing his thing in New York Times office. | ||||||||||||
Want to read some of his stuff? Race riots, Vietnam, some interesting stories... |
