A busy month with Olivia making two trips to Queensland, James working on the Lush Spring Prize with daily Zoom sessions for a week (around international projects focussed on sustainability), Nick in hospital, and Stephen at work and growing a year older. Paulie was on tour with her client Des in South Australia - Des had won a prize to attend a "Barons of the Barossa" event and when they discovered Des needed carers, they were asked to join in.

Olivia and pal Sophie kick off the month with a visit to the McLaren Vale
Paulie & Stephen have a night at the St Lucia Atherton's beach pad
Always a lovely view from their apartment
Oct 4 - Stephen and assorted beasts enjoy the afternooon
.
But then it's to work
Oct 6 - Paulie and Stephen head to the theatre. A first in a long time
Oct 9- up to Doonan to see Jan Dunlop's open studio
.
No idea where Stephen was telling Jim to go!
Halka dropped in for lunch and had a read
.
.
.
Oct 12 - Stephen dropped Paulie at the European Masters collection from the Met but too busy for Stephen to have a look.
.
Oct 14 - Paulie's pal Heather had a big Africa themed birthday. Stephen thought his Kente (care of old pal Joe Tawiah R.I.P.) would do
mmm... the last time Stephen saw Joe wear a kente was decades ago & not exactly politically correct! But both he and Chris thought it amusing.
Why African themed? It was meant to be a birthday in Mozambique (COVID cancelled) to celebrate their 6 month drive through Africa 40 years prior.
Oct 15 - A 3 hour flight to Cairns from Adelaide & then to Port Douglas for Olivia & Diana
.
.
.
Oct 17 - A couple of night in the Sheraton to spoil themselves
.
.
Thirsty
Oct 22 - Olivia leaves Adelaide again and arrives late in Brisbane late in the evening. Her 4th attempt to visit home in the last 9 months.
Morning exercise at UQ
A morning chill in Stephen's birthday gift
Stephen catches up on his fictional "flic" ami, Bruno
Early birthday gifts form Olivia
Ready to go and then...
...off to dinner at Southbank
Olivia's visit was to surprise the whanau at "Nana and Jim's" 80th bash
Reading from family in NZ on both sides
.
Paulie gave it a try but Olivia took over
.
Sisterly bonding
We think we'll all try a drink at the Regatta pub. But a line of under 30s stretch for many metres to get in. No thanks.
A James catch up
Lyndon and Sophie,
Pete and Shari
Oct 24 - A relaxing Sunday breakfast
2nd cousins and great pals Jess and Claudie drop in
And that afternoon it was back to Adelaide
Getting too at home
Oct 28 - cool cat
Oct 29 - Paulie flies into Adelaide and then to Lyndoch in the BArossa
Whilst at the same time Olivia picnics in McLaren Vale vineyards
And in Brisbane Stephen joins James and a cast of thousands from across the world in a sustainability meeting sponsored by Lush
Oct 30 - Paulie and other carer Benoni join client & pal Des in Tanunda
Then Bethany
With Geoff from Bethany wines
And the vineyards around there
Benoni and Paulie at work with Des.
The 1918 Bistro in Tanunda
Oct 31 - morning breaks at the Novotel Barossa
And then a driver collects them to attend the "Barons of the Barossa" lunch
Which all enjoyed. Paulie sat next to Stephen and Prue Henscke . Des chatted with Grant Burge. All are indeed Barossa aristocracy.
.
Paulie's nephew Toni, Kirsten and the kids had a fine Halloween afternoon Annerley
Diana and Olivia had a musical picnic in eth McLaren Vale vineyards
.
Back at the Barossa Novotel Paulie takes an evening walk. Plenty of nice natural sights
And some surprising sights best avoided
And some not-so-natural hazards
But back in Brisbane Stephen just chills and has a quiet people-free day on his 62nd birthday in the garden
.
