This site gives an insight into the progress of the flood that inundated La Cachett's basement and garage
Ce site donne un aperçu de la progression de l'inondation qui a inondé le sous-sol et le garage de La Cachette - a lot of trivial shots of property for insurers.
1Late on 31/1/21 The waters rise in the Bonnette. Despite being registered on the flood alert system, there is no alert from the Maire!
2The Bonnette flows into l'aveyron which in the end rose over 5 metres
31/2/21 - Brisbane time 5:31 am. Too late to get the car out or move furniture from the basement/La Cave
4View from Rue Droite
5Much of the lower village is inundated
6The view from our neighbour Hans' - water enters the garage and basement
7And it kept rising. The Bonnette river which flows into l'aveyron back up the canal near us.
8.
9The boulangerie 20 metres from us goes under
10.
11and within hours the basement and garage are under!
12The garden side of the house is now a lake - you can see the water line.
13On February 2nd the rain stops and water subsides.
14The car went under and clearly everything in the garage did!
15.
16.
17.
18.
19.
20our bikes should hose off OK
21..
22The basement/la cave. The fold down sofa had to go
23.
24Luckily the water stopped before getting to the ceiling
25The shelf had to be thrown
26The trunk might clean up
27.
28.
29The power went under.
30As did 2 heaters
31On the 2nd Feb, the Pompiers kicked into action and helped the village folk
32Pompier Pierre steered the car out of our garage to hose it down- diesel (gazol) from the submerged car, weed killer, and some chemicals had to be managed they said
33Our house insurance, by Pacifica (care of Credit Agricole bank) may damage?
34.
35So the Swift waited outside whilst the garage was emptied and firehosed out.
36But it was not washed- it will be assessed by Groupama, the insurers.
37.
38.
39.
40.
41No good
42gone
43This had to go to the bin that the Pompier supplied
44The wall suffered but at least the ceiling (upstairs floor) escaped
45Our wonderful gardener Cefus and partner Wendy took things that MIGHT be saved to their home
46Diesel stained garden umbrella
47Had to go
48Garden chair cushions to go
49.
50.
51Electric tool. Gone
52Diesel stained. Gone
53.
54.
55Stephen's hiking gear with first aid kit. Gone
56Sewing machine. Gone
57.
58.
59.
60.
61.
62Electrics and hot water were submerged. An electrician will deliver a report
63Although hosed a few times, there was still a diesel smell. This may fade
64Clean
65Whether this survives is unknown
66The swift is pushed back in the garage for assessment
67.
68A now dead bettery trickle charger
69Water remains here and in the boot which they couldn't open
70.
71The Pomier swept out mud but Michael, Cefus and Wendy washed the walls in la cave
72Good job dynamic trio
73We note paint may an issue, 2 heaters submerged and the wood on the covering of plumbing looks damaged
74The crepé suffered from firhose pressure and being submerged
75.
76.
77.
78As a previous shot shows, the garden went under
79The last thing the crew got to was the storage cupboard under the garden stairs
80.
81.
82The electric mower has to go
83The following stuff went up to Cefus and Wendy's - contents of the suitcases
84Some with be thrown but some can be salvaged. Diesel and mud didn't get into the suitcases. Only water
85The suitcases themselves are effected by chemical so have to go
86But dye runs when wet - so some clothes cannot be saved
87.
88No more comments - in teh case of this stuff, we just have to see what washes up OK and in teh case of books, whet dries OK
