Paulie and Stephen headed off to France on January 16th to set up their holiday home. The challenge? - to furnish the house and do a few chores so it can be available for holiday rentals and a pad for friends and family to share. There are shots of the house before we started decorating plus some useful links (including a nice promo video) here. The guys left Olivia in Brisbane ready to start her new course at UQ and arrived at Heathrow to discover that the delayed landing meant the 8am flight to Toulouse was missed and they had to wait until the late afternoon. So... plans to do a quick shopping trip before heading to their village didn't come to be. Days of shopping at the Montouban E.Leclerc hypermarche, Toulouse Ikea, brocante/antique shops, plus art and booty brought from Australia meant by the end of week 2 the pad came together. Good pal Michael Docherty (aka the handy Professor) and Daniel dropped in to lend a hand as part of their European adventure. A few tradesmen were lined up to bring a few thoughts shown broadly illustrated in the mock up shots below to fruition. So... week 2 started more relaxing with more time to explore despite the rain. We visited Najac where Paulie, James and Olivia visited in 2012. A lot of social catch ups with expat pals - dinner with Alan & his friend Sheila and Sharon, drinks with Robin & Rosie, Caroline & Tony, drinks with the expat Brit & Dutch men. Paulie caught up with her old pal Mme Julienne who she met on her last stay here. You'll see "before and after" shots of the house now that most chores and decorating is done. We have also decided on a name for the house ... "la Cachette" (The Hideaway). We've registered the Domain Name, so soon we'll have "www.lacachette.co" up and going. - return to home page - |
