An April study tour in CA and TX

Site updated on 21 Apr 2010

Stephen had to fly off for work on April 14th. The goal was to attend an Apple "Leadership Summit" with 400+ education leaders in Dallas. So to make use of the time he added visits to Berkeley, Stanford and Abilene Christian University in Texas. Stephen mixed in some social catch-ups too. The folks he met were all very helpful and Stephen got hours of recorded footage to use for work and research. Not expecting to leave the hotel for the last 3 days of the summit, Stephen uploaded the shots early. He had seen Dallas anyway in 2006 . Happily home on the 25th!

Jetlagged but going strong

His usual washing trick with a view

In the middle of Chinatown and congestion

Drove off to Stanford for the night

The Stanford cops have the best cop cars. And overhead the huge Stanford chopper (really) flew by

A quick walk to the Palo Alto AppleStore and an iPad is his

He went to Cupertino to meet a colleague, but he was too busy! So off to Saratoga for a feed

Whilst around Stanford I collected the lads- PhD students Paris and Jon

Back to a hotel (same price as crap) at Embarcadero. He needs a view as do his sock

British Columbia's tourist board put on adventure down near the Ferry Building

Colleague Chris Feil and I took our sharp students to dinner

And after a feed, an empty Ferry Building

Off on the BART to meet with MArk and Olga Powell

(and Bella)

Stephen loves running up the hills around town. Click image to Join him conquer Coit Tower

Outside his window is where the trolley cars go to sleep

Stephen headed to Dallas on a 3 hour flight. But that didn't mean loosing touch with his gal! (click image to watch)

On a 3 hour drive from Dallas to Abilene

purty flowers on the way

Arriving in Abilinene Texas- a third of the cars were huge pick ups.

After a half a day and dinner with Abilene Christian University folks, he hit the road back to Dallas via Fort Griffin

Albany. Small town en route

The old mess hall

Still standing is the bakery

Such a flat area, water resevoirs dot the ladscape

As do churches! The bible belt. Not all crass like this one.

It seems God and guns go hand in hand

Arriving back in Dallas
